Amelanistic
(Amelanistic,  aks - Amel & Albino)

If you are looking for a bright snake - you may want to stop here!  The Amel gene has been selectively bred in corn snakes to produce some of the brightest red and orange snakes available.   Amelanistic means "lacking black pigment".  Since corns snakes typically have a large amount of orange and red color, introducing the Amel gene to eliminate the black brightens the intensity to WOW.
The Motley, Stripe and Diffused patterns will also typically enhance and brighten the colors.

Trade names of the selectively bred Amel color morphs include:

Candycane
The goal of this snake is to have a red & white color pattern, like (you guessed it) a candy cane!  Some have darker red and some have brighter orange red saddles.

Fluorescent Orange
Produced by Rich Zuchowski at Serpenco, these are bright orange and white snakes.  The intensity of the orange color must be seen to be believed.

Okeetee (Reverse)
Red, orange and white.  A reverse Okeetee should have wide white saddle borders and high contrast colors.  Our "Angel" (below) is a great example.

Sunglow
The objective of the Sunglow is the elimination of white on the snake's pattern.  They should be tones of red and orange.  The Motley Sunglow is one of the brightest corns snakes available and will be offered by Kaleidoscope corns in 2007.
